In this role, you will have the opportunity to help us with connecting community members and groups with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County (BGCMC) to support youth and families. This role involves managing relationships, cultivating support, and overseeing the volunteer program. The Volunteer & Community Relations Manager (VCRM) must be dynamic, strategic, organized, and experienced in community outreach, youth development, and non-profit operations. The VCRM enhances BGCMC's community presence and reputation as a high-quality youth service provider. They build and sustain relationships with individuals and groups to enhance community support and involvement in BGCMC's mission. The VCRM provides stewardship for community partners and guides staff in relationship management, fostering long-term community commitment linked to impactful services. They strengthen existing partnerships and cultivate new ones through events, outreach, and other activities, participating in civic groups to build and strengthen the network for BGCMC. Additionally, the VCRM establishes strategic partnerships with local organizations, agencies, and schools, leads staff outreach efforts, and collaborates with Development and Marketing teams to sustain support and maintain positive media relations and social media presence. They serve as a liaison between BGCMC and the community to facilitate volunteer projects, manage recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers for various programs and events, and ensure a positive experience for volunteers. The VCRM also maintains volunteer records, oversees the screening process, and provides volunteer management training to Club staff, ensuring compliance with background checks. They organize volunteer appreciation events in collaboration with the Development team and evaluate and refine volunteer activities to ensure satisfaction and effectiveness. Finally, the VCRM implements policies and procedures for volunteer engagement and participation, preparing monthly and ad hoc activity reports and other documentation of efforts and events.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Pass a Level II Background Check.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of teens.
  • Leadership and management experience in youth services, family support, or K-12 educational setting.
  • Proven enthusiastic, positive attitude and effective communication skills and style.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal and relational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products, Outlook, and internet navigation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification or the ability to obtain these certifications.
  • Experience as a youth development professional.
  • High level of energy, flexibility, and work ethics.
  • Comfortable performing multi-faceted projects with day-to-day activities.
