About the position

The Independent Living Housing Inc. is seeking 6 passionate and experienced Senior Grant Writers to lead their grants program. This role involves writing and securing grant funding, managing relationships with funders, and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. The Senior Grant Writers will work closely with various stakeholders to align organizational goals with fundraising efforts, ultimately creating positive impacts for K-12 students and families.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individual grant proposals according to each grant-making organization's guidelines.
  • Research grant-making organizations to identify potential funding sources.
  • Compile, write, and edit grant applications with strong writing skills.
  • Review project budgets and make recommendations for grant presentations.
  • Maintain communication with grant-making organizations during the review process.
  • Coordinate grant request development by establishing timelines and deadlines.
  • Draft and edit grant proposals, ensuring completeness and adherence to instructions.
  • Develop grant budgets in collaboration with program managers and accounting staff.
  • Ensure complete files are maintained for all funders, including grant requests and compliance reports.
  • Oversee reporting requirements for various grants in coordination with the accounting department.
  • Maintain a database for tracking grant submissions and reporting deadlines.
  • Initiate and set goals for programs according to the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Keep senior management informed with detailed reports or presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in philanthropy, public administration, communications, or similar fields.
  • Proven track record of success in procuring grants.
  • Knowledge of federal contracts, grants, and funding sources preferred.
  • Experience addressing compliance standards of funders.
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent managerial skills including communication and organization.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 365 and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of individuals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry best practice standards.
  • Experience with online grant management platforms like Fluxx and DonorPerfect.
  • DPS/DPSCD graduate preferred.
