At Broadridge, we are seeking a VP, Accounting Policy to join our Accounting Policy team within the controllership function. This position is pivotal as it reports directly to the Assistant Corporate Controller and plays a crucial role in ensuring that our accounting policies are continuously updated and effectively communicated across the global accounting department. The ideal candidate will enhance our policy function, providing a unique opportunity to develop technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge while gaining exposure to senior-level executives. In this key leadership role, you will provide subject matter expertise on accounting guidance and make recommendations regarding the interpretation and application of accounting standards under company policy and GAAP. You will have a broad span of influence within the accounting function, providing vision, leadership, and innovation from a finance perspective. Your responsibilities will include applying the ASC 606 revenue recognition model to complex transactions, clearly articulating conclusions, and documenting positions based on relevant accounting guidance. You will be responsible for conducting technical accounting research and implementation, reviewing proposed accounting standards, and determining their potential impact on the company. Additionally, you will review complicated accounting issues and make recommendations for appropriate treatment, advise business heads regarding the accounting implications of new products, and document financial, tax, and regulatory reporting changes. Leading the preparation of accounting transaction memos detailing significant transactions will also be part of your role. Furthermore, you will represent the organization externally on matters related to accounting policies and external reporting, developing an active role in industry-wide relationships. Your critical leadership will extend to providing technical support for M&A and structured transactions, including due diligence and transaction structuring for accounting issues. You will assist in the quarterly preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and related SEC disclosures, ensuring all matters are appropriately disclosed. Training the accounting department on new accounting standards and fulfilling ad-hoc requests will also be part of your responsibilities.
