About the position

The VP & Actuarial Director at Zurich North America is a senior actuarial role responsible for leading the Commercial Auto Pricing team. This position involves providing insights for the Commercial Auto Portfolio, managing detailed pricing analyses, and collaborating with various teams to achieve financial objectives. The role requires strong leadership skills to mentor actuarial staff and ensure effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Commercial Auto Pricing team.
  • Conduct detailed pricing analysis including the development of rates and rating plans.
  • Manage and deliver detailed trend analyses and loss development factors.
  • Provide input into the Technical Virtuous Circle for Auto portfolios.
  • Support pricing tools and related monitoring, including knowledge of data sources and Power BI.
  • Establish and maintain governance and monitoring frameworks.
  • Participate in Finance and Underwriting decision processes, providing independent challenge.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor actuarial staff, including development of Individual Development Plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification OR Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification.
  • People management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Commercial Auto.
  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management).
  • Proficiency in pricing studies: rate indications, trend studies, parameter analysis.
  • Proficiency with Pricing Tools including development and monitoring.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading and mentoring actuarial teams.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
