The Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the University of Mary Washington serves as a key member of the senior administration and executive management team, directly reporting to the President of the University. This role is pivotal in overseeing the administration and management of six critical areas: Budget and Financial Analysis, Business Services, Procurement, Finance, Facilities Services, and Human Resources. The Vice President will also hold the position of CFO for the UMW Foundation, ensuring financial integrity and strategic oversight across the institution's financial operations. In this capacity, the Vice President will supervise and evaluate the performance of several directors, including the Director of Budget and Financial Analysis, Director of Business Services, Director of Procurement Services, Associate Vice President for Finance and Controller, Executive Director of Facilities Operations, Capital Outlay Program Director, and Executive Director of Human Resources. This leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of fiscal management and the ability to execute large, complex operations and projects effectively. The Vice President will represent the University in all fiscal and business-related matters at various levels, including state, national, and local forums. This includes advising the President and other cabinet members on financial affairs, supervising the preparation of the University’s biennial program budget for submission to the State Department of Planning and Budget, and coordinating the biennial capital outlay budget submission. Additionally, the Vice President will provide financial oversight to the UMW Foundation, which includes regular reviews of financial statements, investment account reconciliations, and strategic partnership with the Foundation's Executive Director on operational matters. This role is essential for maintaining the financial health and strategic direction of the University and its affiliated entities.
