About the position

The VP of Application Development is responsible for leading the application development team at LendingPoint, overseeing the design and development of software systems and applications tailored to the company's needs. This role involves strategic leadership, project management, and collaboration with various departments to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. The VP will also establish coding standards, manage resources, and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the application development team.
• Oversee a team of developers, ensuring they are motivated and aligned with company goals.
• Manage the development lifecycle of applications from conception to deployment.
• Develop and implement technology strategies aligned with the company's objectives.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Establish and enforce coding standards and quality assurance processes.
• Manage resource allocation, including budgeting and staffing.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to application development projects.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the application development team.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Monitor project performance and provide guidance to project managers.
• Coordinate release planning activities with stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
• Facilitate the change management process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience as a Java developer overseeing large cross-functional projects.
• 15+ years of experience with Java, JavaScript, REST, and JSON.
• Demonstrated understanding of web and API platform technologies including microservices and cloud technologies.
• Proven experience with the full development lifecycle from concept to delivery.
• Knowledge of platforms and technologies including Python, SQL, Angular/React, and Docker.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
