About the position

As an Area Sales Manager at Wintrust Mortgage, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of branch managers and sales professionals across a defined geographic region. Your primary responsibility will be to drive results through effective talent management strategies, behavior-based coaching, and the development of both direct and indirect reports. You will be tasked with ensuring that your team achieves their full potential while meeting business objectives. This position requires you to act as a liaison between the retail branches and support areas, leveraging relationships with product and line of business partners to benefit customers and achieve sales and financial results. In addition to leading your team, you will oversee the recruiting, hiring, and training processes within your region. You will be responsible for the overall financial performance of your defined region, ensuring budget adherence, growing the customer base, and increasing the number of customers served. This role demands a thorough understanding of branch financials, business acumen, and knowledge of financial products and services, as well as the ability to engage in difficult conversations and listen with empathy to deescalate situations. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit within the team, promoting a culture that encourages development and upward mobility. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of branch managers and sales professionals across a defined geographic region.
  • Drive results through talent management strategies and behavior-based coaching.
  • Develop a team of direct and indirect reports to achieve their full potential and meet business objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between retail branches and support areas, leveraging relationships with product and line of business partners.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, and training within the region.
  • Ensure overall financial performance of the defined region, including budget adherence and customer base growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Must meet all NMLS requirements.
  • Proven leadership abilities and strategic management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of branch financials and business acumen.
  • Knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, communication (both written and oral), and telephone etiquette skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter, motivated, energetic, with excellent time-management skills.
  • Minimum of 10 years in the mortgage industry and 5 years in retail banking management.
  • Encompass experience preferred.
  • Ability to provide timely and helpful information to others across the organization.

  • Experience in a leadership role within the mortgage industry.
