About the position

The VP of Business Development at Alaska Regional Hospital is responsible for driving business initiatives and service line growth. This leadership role involves identifying and executing business development opportunities, establishing new services, and promoting outreach to referral providers. The position requires collaboration with various departments and reports directly to the CEO, focusing on enhancing market share and integrating key service lines.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, implement, and coordinate business initiatives and service line growth.
  • Identify and execute business development opportunities and strategies.
  • Establish the scope and location of additional services including hospital-based and free-standing services and joint ventures.
  • Grow the facilities market share in primary and secondary markets.
  • Initiate and promote outreach to referral providers, including rural hospitals, EMS organizations, and long-term care facilities.
  • Work with Physician Services in physician recruitment, employment, and income guarantees.
  • Champion market integration and growth in key service lines such as Cardiology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Orthopedics, and Women's Services.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or a similar graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive healthcare facility leadership experience, with at least five (5) years in a freestanding acute care facility.
  • Experience in multi-facility and/or hospital marketing and/or planning management is preferred.
  • Strong emphasis on inpatient service line development, physician arrangements, and outreach skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare business development in a leadership role.
  • Familiarity with the Alaskan healthcare market.
