About the position

As the Chief Financial Officer for E&S Specialty and Commercial Lines at Nationwide, you will act as a trusted advisor to the leaders of various business segments, including Commercial Lines and Nationwide Agribusiness. This role involves developing and executing strategies that enhance growth, profitability, and risk management in competitive markets. You will lead financial planning processes, provide analytics and insights, and foster relationships with key stakeholders to support business decisions and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key influence in the development and execution of strategies for long-term growth and profitability.
  • Develop analytics and recommendations to support product management and operational capabilities.
  • Lead the business planning processes and provide financial forecasting support.
  • Develop the annual operating plan and budgets, driving prioritization of initiatives.
  • Provide oversight to financial analytics, including modeling, product profitability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assess and quantify business risks, implementing risk management strategies.
  • Monitor financial performance against forecasts and develop business opportunities.
  • Participate in product development processes and support operational teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with finance and business leaders.
  • Cultivate an engaging environment for associates, supporting their development.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, advanced analytics, business, finance, mathematics, economics, or related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • FCAS, ACAS, CPA or similar certifications preferred.
  • Typically ten years or more of related experience in pricing, actuarial, product, or advanced analytics.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of property and casualty business operations and financial systems.
  • Strong financial and technical insurance skills, excellent communication abilities, and critical thinking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Progress toward or completion of CPCU, CLU, or similar designations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and emotional intelligence.
