About the position

The Vice President, Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in the planning, development, and implementation of clinical information systems across the CHS portfolio. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital and Information Officer, the CMIO oversees day-to-day operations, decision-making, and staff management within the Office of Clinical Informatics, leading a multi-disciplinary team to optimize clinical systems for improved patient care and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and IT leadership in planning, development, implementation, and support of clinical information systems.
  • Evaluate the impact of information technology on clinical processes and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Develop relationships with health system leaders to execute the clinical informatics agenda.
  • Lead the design of clinical pathway models and assist in their modification for maximum efficacy.
  • Review clinical informatics trends and provide thought leadership in informatics practices.
  • Facilitate enterprise change management of clinical content and workflows.
  • Ensure widespread acceptance and optimal use of clinical systems through user support and training.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide data governance and assist in enriching the cloud data ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with data science teams on AI strategy and governance.
  • Assist in app rationalization and vendor management with the VP of Applications management.
  • Ensure cybersecurity policy implementation in collaboration with the CISO and CIO.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D. or D.O.) required.
  • Board-Certified in any clinical specialty preferred.
  • Master's degree in informatics or technology preferred.
  • 10 years' experience in Clinical Informatics and 3-5 years of leadership experience in health informatics deployment and optimization required.
  • Valid U.S. Medical License required.
  • Certification from organizations such as American Medical Informatics Association preferred.

Nice-to-haves
