About The Position

The VP of Claims at Allied World Insurance Company is responsible for managing litigation related to insurance policies across all lines of business. Responsibilities

• Manage a volume of coverage litigation involving various accounts and policy forms.
• Analyze assigned files, retain counsel, and develop litigation strategies.
• Oversee all aspects of discovery and establish timely reserves.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, including mediations and arbitrations.
• Ensure compliance with litigation hold procedures.
• Stay updated on case law developments related to insurance coverage and extra-contractual liability.
• Report claim developments and trends to claims and underwriting management.
• Provide guidance on coverage questions to claims department personnel.
• Identify training opportunities for claims and underwriting staff.
• Collaborate with other departments on projects as needed.
• Prepare claim summaries and reports for management.
• Report suits filed by or against the company to E&O carriers.
• Provide quarterly updates to E&O carriers on open matters.
• Attend and represent the company at industry conferences and meetings.
• Identify and recruit coverage counsel for disputes.
