About the position

The VP, Commercial Loan Officer at DFCU Financial is responsible for driving new commercial deposits and loans while fostering strong client relationships. This role involves collaborating with retail banking partners and providing tailored financial solutions to both new and existing members, contributing to revenue growth and ensuring compliance with lending policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new business banking relationships that include loan and deposit opportunities.
  • Collaborate with retail banking team, Treasury Management, and SBA on prospect and customer calls.
  • Proactively generate referrals through existing clients, centers of influence, and professional networking associations.
  • Provide value-added service to existing clients to facilitate the expansion of client relationships and garner referrals from business owners and professionals.
  • Prepare detailed call plans and post-call reviews to ensure client needs are identified and met.
  • Communicate with prospects and clients to proactively collect current and complete financial packages for new and maturing loan requests.
  • Meet with prospective and existing clients to make qualitative judgments regarding business acumen, management capabilities, key performance indicators, skillsets, and expertise.
  • Review loan policy on an ongoing basis to ensure loan requests are consistent with DFCU risk tolerance and exceptions are managed appropriately.
  • Review financial packages to ensure requests have merit and historical financial performance; ensure projects support the request.
  • Work closely with commercial banking specialists and loan documentation group to coordinate new/renewal loan application and closing process.
  • Present to appropriate loan committee.
  • Proactively manage loan portfolio to process renewals in a timely manner; ensure loan covenants are compliant and past due loans are properly managed.
  • Recommend process and procedure improvements to enhance the safety and soundness of commercial banking.
  • Attend community networking events as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field.
  • Seven years lending or B2B sales experience in the financial services industry.
  • Five years commercial lending and credit underwriting experience or commensurate business acumen.
  • Demonstrated high performance in sales goal attainment.
  • Demonstrated community involvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
