The Vice President, Controlling, Americas - Automotive position is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all finance and controlling activities within the Automotive Division for the Americas region at Harman International. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the division, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Controlling and having a dotted line to the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Automotive Division, Americas. The role requires a high level of collaboration with various departments including Customer Business Units (CBUs), Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operations, and Marketing, necessitating strong alignment with both North American and global management teams. In this capacity, the Vice President will partner closely with the Americas General Manager and heads of Customer Business Units to influence and support all aspects impacting the division's Profit and Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. This includes strategic areas such as commercial offers, pricing strategies, investment decisions, growth initiatives, and cost reduction programs. The role demands a deep understanding of financial analysis to support key decisions across various functional areas, including sales, purchasing, engineering, and operations. The Vice President will lead finance and controlling activities for all Automotive customers and programs in the Americas, which include major clients such as General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Subaru, Toyota, Harley-Davidson, John Deere, and Tesla. Key responsibilities include managing monthly financial reporting, operational analysis, quarterly forecasts, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations. The position also involves overseeing financial commitments related to capital budgets, expense budgets, and new business proposals, while collaborating with global colleagues on various finance-related topics. Additionally, the Vice President will spearhead financial initiatives aimed at value engineering and cost reductions, act as the financial lead for restructuring projects, and support strategic business planning, including mergers and acquisitions. This role is pivotal in ensuring that financial processes align with corporate objectives and that the division meets its financial targets.
