About the position
The VP of Design Engineering & Construction at Digital Realty will lead the strategic vision for the design and construction of data centers across North America. This role focuses on optimizing delivery processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and high-quality outcomes, while also aligning with global strategies. The VP will manage a team dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of data center projects, ensuring they meet the company's growth objectives and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and motivate the North America Design and Construction (D&C) team.
- Align with global plans to execute the strategy and delivery of the full data center D&C lifecycle.
- Partner with the Global Team to support R&D capabilities for next-generation data center designs.
- Manage and oversee North America regional design and construction projects.
- Initiate and maintain a historical construction cost database.
- Provide cross-functional support with Portfolio Management and Acquisition teams.
- Execute new design innovations in alignment with the Global Team.
- Manage to scope of design and ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Support the Managing Director North America in developing go-to-market strategies.
- Maintain a coherent governance process and program methodology.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the capital budget development for construction-related work.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering, Construction & Development, or related field.
- 10 years of proven work experience in design and/or construction with strong people management experience.
- Proven track record of managing design to deliver cost savings and driving revenue growth.
- Solid track record of strategic accomplishments in rapidly growing companies.
- Experience in building teams to scale in a dynamic technology-focused environment.
- Extremely collaborative leader with flexibility and creativity.
- Strong executive presence and sense of urgency.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, team building, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences.
