About the position

The Vice President, Director serving as the Principal Engineer for DevOps at OneMain Financial is responsible for leading the organization's DevOps delivery strategy as it expands its market verticals. This role involves harmonizing DevOps capabilities across various platforms and technologies, including AWS and IBM systems, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. The Principal Engineer will collaborate with technology leaders to evolve the DevOps approach, build and automate the DevOps platform, and drive continuous improvement in delivery processes.

Responsibilities

  • Define, socialize, and drive strategies for harmonizing DevOps capabilities and services.
  • Stay updated on evolving industry capabilities and standards to identify opportunities for OneMain.
  • Collaborate with technology leaders to understand product roadmaps and evolve the DevOps approach.
  • Create a DevOps target state platform and work with technology teams to enhance delivery capabilities.
  • Build and automate the DevOps platform to ensure resiliency, performance, and scalability.
  • Advance release engineering practices to ensure consistent delivery of complex products.
  • Assess and recommend environment strategies for both cloud and on-premises to accelerate delivery.
  • Develop architectural prototypes to mitigate risks from new solutions and produce supporting artifacts.
  • Publish metrics to drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and speed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; advanced degree desired.
  • 8+ years of experience in a Senior DevOps role, with at least 3+ years as a DevOps Principal Engineer.
  • Strong engineering, communication, operational, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and mentor high-performing teams across geographies.
  • Experience in modernizing on-prem data centers with a unified DevOps approach and containerization.
  • Experience in designing and building out the DevOps platform with integrations to various tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and process management skills.
