About The Position

The Vice President for Government Affairs at Wellstar Health System will lead advocacy, policy, and lobbying efforts to enhance Wellstar's political brand with key stakeholders. This role involves leveraging relationships with federal, state, and local policymakers to advocate for policy solutions that align with Wellstar's mission and objectives. The Vice President will serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and senior leadership, managing government relations activities and building a policy team to evaluate legislation impacts and formulate advocacy strategies.

Requirements

• Undergraduate Degree in political science or related area.
• MBA, MHA or Masters preferred.
• 12 years' experience working with elected officials and community leaders.
• Substantial health policy experience, particularly in Georgia.
• Senior leadership experience in advocacy and policy objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills.

• Experience in budget oversight and event planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Wellstar's government relations activities.
• Participate in local, state, and federal legislative processes.
• Manage a team of political consultants and contract lobbyists/advocates.
• Build and lead a policy team to evaluate proposed legislation and regulation impacts.
• Monitor new federal and state legislation affecting Wellstar's business.
• Develop and communicate policy recommendations to elected officials.
• Partner with Communications and Community Engagement to develop advocacy strategies.
• Enhance Wellstar's political brand through community relations efforts.
• Collaborate with senior executives and the Wellstar Foundation to develop thought leadership positions.
• Develop grassroots support for organizational priorities with the Wellstar Board and local Boards.
