About the position

The VP of Infrastructure at Vail Resorts is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and strategy for the Enterprise Infrastructure teams across the IT portfolio. This role involves defining operational strategies, architecture, and change processes while aligning diverse stakeholders with the team's vision for delivering IT services. The position requires superior leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and experience in driving organizational change.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction on all aspects of IT infrastructure including architecture, service delivery standards, and processes for the enterprise.
  • Develop goals and standards for IT Service Delivery in cooperation with other IT departments and key stakeholders.
  • Work with business units and application teams to understand service requirements and expectations.
  • Focus on IT process improvement, including automation and proactive communication.
  • Analyze and predict trends to develop long-range plans for cost-effectiveness and competitiveness.
  • Establish security processes within the infrastructure teams.
  • Support change management processes in conjunction with application and infrastructure teams.
  • Develop capacity-planning tools and processes.
  • Oversee program management of initiatives ensuring projects are completed on budget and timelines.
  • Manage departmental budget and oversight.
  • Engage in stakeholder management across lines of business, IT teams, and vendors.
  • Develop and gain buy-in from key stakeholders on multi-year roadmaps.
  • Proactively manage Information Security, Compliance, and Data Privacy obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with proven ability to lead critical projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of ITIL, SDLC, IT Support Center, Dev/Ops, and cloud services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels within IT and the Business.
  • Understanding of running production systems and end-user support on a global level.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience defining and executing a multi-cloud strategy, including hybrid cloud orchestration.
  • Deep understanding of on-prem data center technologies.
  • Experience with next-gen alerting and monitoring tools.
  • Extensive experience with the Microsoft stack of technologies.

  • Knowledgeable in ITIL and Dev/Ops.
  • Experience with cloud-based service delivery models.
  • Experience driving global enterprise architecture standards and practices.
  • Experience with outsourcing methods and models.
