About the position

The VP, Market Research and Strategy at Waterton is responsible for researching and analyzing market fundamentals that drive the multi-family markets, providing insights for asset management and investment opportunities. This role supports Investor Relations and Portfolio Management by preparing various reports and presentations for investors, and involves comprehensive analysis of new acquisitions, trend forecasts, and strategic communication with senior leadership and investors.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze market fundamentals driving multi-family markets for asset management and investment opportunities.
  • Provide support to Investor Relations and Portfolio Management for reports and presentations prepared for investors.
  • Conduct comprehensive individual site and community level analysis on new acquisitions.
  • Work with the investment management team to provide trend forecasts for real estate performance.
  • Analyze research data and communicate strategies to the leadership team and investors.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and investment committee on data interpretation and trend identification.
  • Develop unique investment and capital allocation strategies based on market analysis.
  • Create and maintain Waterton's real estate fundamentals database and proprietary Market Scorecards.
  • Interact with investors to provide credible reporting and support for investment strategies and market outlook.
  • Partner with Operations and Portfolio Management on rental growth forecasts and capital allocation decisions.
  • Collaborate with IT on data management and increase efficiencies in research data analytics.
  • Produce written materials including whitepapers, quarterly reports, and market updates for investment acquisition memorandums.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 8-12 years of related experience in real estate, with multifamily experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to connect with people and gain their involvement.
  • Ability to recognize and adjust to change while maintaining control of the overall agenda.
  • Confidence to ask questions when processes or procedures are unclear.
  • Commitment to ethical behavior, transparency, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
