About the position

The VP of Master Data Engineering and Management at Travelers will lead the evolution and implementation of the company's data and analytics strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and a customer-centric approach. This role involves collaboration with various business units to develop data strategies, enhance data governance, and drive innovation through effective data management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership in shaping data management capabilities and delivery strategy.
  • Stay updated on developments and trends to advance digital transformation efforts.
  • Build a culture of data management literacy across the organization.
  • Work with stakeholders to define and execute MDM strategies.
  • Implement technology offerings and enhance Data Governance capabilities.
  • Define and oversee new architecture and systems for data management.
  • Manage technology roadmaps related to data warehouses and business intelligence systems.
  • Establish data governance standards and policies for data accuracy and security.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies across projects and environments.
  • Create a framework for deliverables to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Develop connections to deliver value for stakeholders.
  • Facilitate long-term relationships that add value to the organization.
  • Utilize agile methodologies for successful delivery.
  • Provide MDM expertise to support growth initiatives.
  • Develop MDM Implementation playbook and delivery maps.
  • Research emerging technologies to enhance data capabilities.
  • Ensure adherence to data privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrate leadership and support team development.
  • Foster an inclusive team environment that encourages innovation.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of experience leading data engineering/data management.
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in data engineering/management fields.
  • Experience driving change at the executive level in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience in data management within the digital space.
  • Proven thought leadership in developing new tools and methodologies.
  • Thorough knowledge in designing and implementing MDM solutions.
  • Ability to lead integrated data management teams through MDM implementations.
  • Deep understanding of complex business environments.
  • Broad understanding of Data, Analytics, and Technology trends.
  • Ability to communicate the value of data and analytics effectively.
  • Experience in implementing data quality rules and maintaining ID translations.
  • Experience addressing Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operational requirements for MDM.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
