About the position

The Vice President of Engines Manufacturing at Blue Origin is responsible for overseeing the financial and operational results of the manufacturing operations in Huntsville, AL, and Kent, WA. This role requires strategic leadership in the production of development and flight engines for spaceflight, ensuring high-quality operational excellence while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The VP will lead a diverse team, manage multiple manufacturing programs, and collaborate closely with various stakeholders to meet project objectives and enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct initiatives and strategies that deliver cost-effective, high-quality operational excellence for development and flight engines.
  • Propagate key operational takeaways and methodologies to support improvement across the Blue enterprise.
  • Champion the overall production for existing and new programs while growing and developing the team at all levels.
  • Analyze processes and operations at both micro and macro levels, implementing high-impact improvements for safety and cost savings.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a data-driven system for scheduling, planning, and reporting through dashboards and metrics.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer interface interactions, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between internal teams and external clients.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in Operation Management or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 15 years of proven manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience leading, managing, and growing a diverse team on fast-paced projects.
  • Solid understanding and applied experiences in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Toyota Production System methods.
  • Experience managing capital improvements and layout.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizations through large-scale change management initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

  • 20+ years of proven experience in manufacturing in aerospace or a closely related industry.
  • Master's degree in engineering, operation, or business.
  • Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes, integration processes, and systems engineering practices.
