About the position

The VP of Product Management for Publishing Platforms at Condé Nast is responsible for leading the development and execution of product strategies that enhance the content lifecycle across various media brands. This role focuses on building and optimizing tools that support editors, internal teams, and end-users, ensuring high-quality content experiences and operational efficiency. The position requires extensive experience in product management within the media industry, emphasizing cross-functional collaboration and innovation in technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the product roadmap for all systems supporting the content lifecycle.
  • Articulate and drive key results for the publishing platform teams, focusing on efficiency, uptime, and user satisfaction.
  • Manage brand management for global brands and enable features for a plug-and-play architecture.
  • Balance quarterly delivery needs with multi-year strategic goals for core systems.
  • Expand publishing platform capabilities based on stakeholder input, particularly from the commerce team.
  • Develop new storytelling capabilities and digital experiences through improved layout generation strategies.
  • Work with revenue, data, and engagement product leadership to address business challenges.
  • Collaborate with various teams to identify needs and solutions.
  • Communicate priorities, tasks, and goals across teams.
  • Develop and execute a publishing platform technology strategy.
  • Deliver SEO and page performance improvements.
  • Support the maintenance and growth of a multi-tenant web application and design system.
  • Improve functionality of core content types in collaboration with editors, designers, and developers.
  • Represent global platform team roadmaps to technology and business leadership.
  • Hire and manage globally distributed teams, establishing success metrics.
  • Partner with stakeholders in design, editorial, engineering, and analytics to achieve outcomes.
  • Utilize insights and data to drive decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and iterative growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience managing product experiences for consumer brands, ideally in the media industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years working with stakeholders to define product strategy, ideally within the publishing industry.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience in a matrixed organization, managing requests from multiple stakeholders.
  • Track record of building and managing relationships within an international business.
  • Experience managing product managers across the US, UK, and Europe, with effective communication across cultures.
  • Experience developing SaaS and/or Enterprise tooling.
  • Experience managing design systems across multiple teams.
  • Working knowledge of the React framework and node.js.
  • Some SQL or Python query writing abilities.
  • Demonstrated grasp of SaaS, Enterprise, Publishing, and SEO tools for improving page performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility to work with a global team and adjust hours accordingly.
  • Commitment to raising the bar on work quality and sharing best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with affiliate commerce in a publishing context.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks and deployment pipeline efficiency.
