The VP Portfolio Manager for Diversified Industries at SMBC MANUBANK plays a pivotal role in managing and executing credit facilities for a diverse range of customers across various industries, particularly in Commercial and Industrial (C&I) lending. This position is integral to the bank's mission of being the preferred banking partner for middle-market and professional service companies. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for evaluating, structuring, preparing, and reviewing credit memos for both new and existing credit facilities, typically ranging from $1,000,000 to $25,000,000. This role requires a deep understanding of the technical and analytical aspects of commercial loan underwriting, including cash flow evaluation, financial statement analysis, collateral quality assessment, and enterprise valuation. Additionally, the Portfolio Manager must analyze the financial capacity of individual and corporate guarantors, assess market and industry trends, and possess knowledge of loan participation and syndications. In this role, the Portfolio Manager will maintain and monitor an assigned loan portfolio, ensuring that all transactions are underwritten in accordance with the bank's policies and procedures. This includes preparing or reviewing Pre-Screen reports for prospective borrowers and guarantors, as well as Credit Approval Reports for submission to Credit Administration. The Portfolio Manager will also present deals at loan approval committee meetings when necessary and prepare other written reports as part of loan relationship management. Timely loan closings are crucial, and the Portfolio Manager will manage the process to ensure that modifications, extensions, renewals, and annual reviews are completed as required. Building and maintaining strong relationships with Division Heads, Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts, and customers is essential for success in this role. Furthermore, the Portfolio Manager will provide assistance and training to junior loan officers, contributing to the overall development of the team.
