About the position

The Vice President of Product Innovation Management at Cepheid is a critical leadership role responsible for defining and prioritizing the innovation and R&D pipeline for future diagnostic solutions. This position involves identifying unmet clinical needs, translating them into groundbreaking products, and championing a culture of innovation both internally and externally. The VP will lead a high-performing team, execute a comprehensive product innovation strategy, and collaborate with various stakeholders to drive product development and market launch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive product innovation strategy aligned with the company's vision.
  • Own and prioritize Cepheid's full product innovation roadmap to meet long-term growth goals.
  • Conduct thorough market research to understand unmet clinical needs and identify actionable new product ideas.
  • Translate new product ideas into detailed product definitions for execution by NPD core teams.
  • Partner with R&D and Clinical & Regulatory Affairs to drive innovation execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Lead a high-performing team of Product Innovation Managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Champion a culture of creativity and collaboration across all stages of the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of success in leading product innovation management within the Diagnostics industry or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 12+ years with a Master's degree in biological sciences, engineering, medicine, product management, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle and the healthcare industry.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills with a track record of translating market insights into actionable product roadmaps.
  • Collaborative leadership style with experience in matrixed organizations and external partnerships.
  • Experience building and coaching teams in product management or marketing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Specific experience in Molecular Diagnostics and Infectious Disease and/or Oncology.
  • Experience partnering with external organizations to deliver new product innovation.
