About the position

The Vice President Product Manager role within the Technology team at our client, a global advisory-focused Investment Bank based in New York, is a pivotal position that combines technical expertise with strategic business acumen. This role is designed for an individual with a strong background in HR and/or Finance Business Application Systems, who will serve as a key business partner to the HR and Finance functions while also acting as a technical lead in the systems utilized by these departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing best-in-class program management and risk management practices, ensuring that timelines are met, stakeholder communications are effective, and status updates are regularly provided. In this role, the Vice President Product Manager will oversee the ongoing optimization, rationalization, and maintenance of both operational and reporting tools within the HR and Finance functions. This includes leading support for day-to-day user experience, platform stability, and performance, as well as enhancing the scalability of key connected planning technologies across the firm. The individual will document business process changes and create operating run-books, ensuring that all changes are well-documented and communicated effectively. Additionally, the Vice President Product Manager will be responsible for developing testing plans, training materials, and communication strategies related to both scheduled and unscheduled platform releases. This role requires close collaboration on cross-functional projects within technology and the broader corporate function, ensuring that all initiatives align with the firm's strategic objectives. The candidate will also manage a small team of in-house, consulting, and managed service resources, with the goal of continuously expanding the team's capabilities and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a business partner to the HR and Finance functions and serve as a technical lead in the systems they use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business Systems, Information Technology, or related field; Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting degrees are also relevant.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Implementation, Management, or Consulting experience related to HR or Finance Systems (e.g., Workday, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, SAP BPC, Oracle HFM, IBM Cognos).
  • Experience with Human Resource and/or Finance functions and their processes.
  • Ability to solve complex technology, process, or data-related problems and present solutions to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to scope projects, maintain timelines, and execute delivery.
