About the position

The VP of Production at Banana Republic is responsible for leading the Production & Technical Design organization, focusing on the development, implementation, and execution of strategies that align with the brand's long-term vision. This role involves managing a team of production and technical design professionals, collaborating with various departments to enhance product quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring alignment with the company's global brand strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a quality-focused, cost-effective production strategy that supports the global business plans.
  • Communicate the Product Pipeline vision and process to stakeholders including GIS offices, vendors, and mills.
  • Lead sourcing and capacity management strategies to ensure product availability for seasonal and fast pipelines.
  • Contribute to the global brand strategy and engage in cross-collaboration with key partners.
  • Establish strategies to align Tech Design teams with brand goals.
  • Deliver costing plans, sourcing strategies, fit processes, and product development needs to meet business partner requirements.
  • Enforce vendor policies to minimize financial liabilities and ensure alignment on best practices.
  • Manage departmental budget needs to support SG&A.
  • Implement the BR Product Pipeline process and identify opportunities for efficiency.
  • Research new manufacturing sources and industry best practices for continual improvement.
  • Provide a framework for issue resolution in Production & Technical Design areas.
  • Own communication plans for cross-functional updates on sourcing and production strategies.
  • Develop leadership capabilities within the Production and Technical Design teams and ensure a lean structural model.
  • Retain top talent and build knowledge within the organization for future succession.
  • Manage organizational performance through quantitative and qualitative assessments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of apparel and non-apparel industry strategies and competition.
  • Understanding of production trade regulations, testing protocols, and product integrity.
  • Experience in apparel manufacturing economics and operations management.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills to obtain information from systems.
  • Ability to influence across multiple functions and geographies.
  • Effective problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to develop and implement strategies, monitor progress, and adjust as needed.
  • Ability to anticipate future trends and respond with creative business solutions.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness in business interactions.
  • Negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and win concessions without damaging relationships.
  • Experience in creating a positive environment that promotes high performance standards.
  • Extensive experience in Production/Sourcing, Technical Design, and Supply Chain management.
  • Previous people management and leadership experience.
