About the position

The Vice President, Project Finance at Sunrun is a leadership role responsible for developing investor relationships and structuring renewable transactions to drive the company's growth and profitability. This position involves managing a team within the Project Finance Group and requires expertise in renewable energy finance, particularly in structuring various financing opportunities such as tax equity and cash equity. The VP will report directly to the Head of Project Finance and play a key role in executing capital markets transactions and maintaining financial partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structuring, execution, and maintenance of residential solar financings, collaborating with law firms and investment bankers.
  • Maintain existing relationships and develop new sources of tax equity, debt, and cash equity financing.
  • Oversee project finance projections and analysis for the company.
  • Coordinate with various internal groups to complete third-party due diligence requests.
  • Support treasury, budgeting, and financial planning to ensure alignment on financing obligations.
  • Engage in multiple aspects of the organization as part of an entrepreneurial finance team.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in power/energy/utilities finance, with at least 3 years in the US renewables industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in structuring and closing renewable energy financings, including tax equity partnerships and debt financings.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts, term sheets, and legal documents.
  • Strong financial modeling skills to support junior team members and develop talent.
  • Existing relationships with project finance and tax equity professionals.
  • Curiosity about distributed generation and storage technology.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Understanding of solar + storage renewable energy systems at a commercial level.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial modeling software and tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting renewable energy financing.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in renewable energy markets.
