About the position

The Vice President of Project Finance at Sunrun is a leadership role responsible for developing investor relationships, structuring renewable transactions, and managing a team within the Project Finance Group. This position plays a crucial role in driving the growth and profitability of the company by originating financial partnerships and overseeing various financing opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead in structuring, executing, and maintaining residential solar financings, collaborating with law firms and investment bankers for capital markets transactions.
• Maintain existing relationships and develop new sources of tax equity, debt, and cash equity financing to support the company's development efforts.
• Oversee project finance projections and analysis for the company.
• Coordinate with multiple internal groups to complete third-party due diligence requests and develop expertise in the company's business practices.
• Support broader treasury, budgeting, and financial planning to ensure alignment on financing obligations.

Requirements

• 8-10 years of experience in power/energy/utilities with at least 3 years in the US renewables industry.
• Bachelor's degree; MBA or Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience in structuring, negotiating, and closing renewable energy financings, including tax equity partnerships and debt financings.
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts, term sheets, and legal documents.
• Strong financial modeling capabilities to support junior team members and develop talent.
• Existing relationships with project finance and tax equity professionals.
• Curiosity about distributed generation and storage technology.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills.
• Understanding of solar + storage renewable energy systems at a commercial level.
• Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with financial modeling software and tools.
