About the position

The Vice President of Project Finance at Sunrun is a leadership role responsible for developing investor relationships and structuring renewable transactions to drive the company's growth and profitability. This position involves managing a team within the Project Finance Group and requires expertise in renewable energy finance, particularly in structuring various financing opportunities such as tax equity and cash equity. The VP will play a key role in executing capital markets transactions and ensuring alignment across the company's financial obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structuring, execution, and maintenance of residential solar financings, collaborating with law firms and investment bankers.
  • Maintain and develop relationships for tax equity, debt, and cash equity financing to support the company's development efforts.
  • Oversee project finance projections and analysis for the company.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to complete third-party due diligence requests and develop expertise in the company's business practices.
  • Support treasury, budgeting, and financial planning to ensure alignment on financing obligations.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in power/energy/utilities finance, with at least 3 years in the US renewables industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in structuring and closing renewable energy financings, including tax equity partnerships and debt financings.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts, term sheets, and legal documents.
  • Strong financial modeling skills to support junior team members and develop talent.
  • Existing relationships with project finance and tax equity professionals.
  • Curiosity about distributed generation and storage technology.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Understanding of solar + storage renewable energy systems at a commercial level.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
