About the position

The Vice President, Project Finance at Sunrun is a leadership role focused on developing investor relationships and structuring innovative financing solutions for renewable energy projects. This position is crucial for driving the growth and profitability of the company by managing a team involved in deal management, due diligence, and financial modeling. The role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in renewable energy finance, particularly in structuring various financing transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structuring, execution, and maintenance of residential solar financings, collaborating with law firms and investment bankers.
  • Maintain and develop relationships for tax equity, debt, and cash equity financing to support the company's development efforts.
  • Oversee project finance projections and analysis for the company.
  • Coordinate with multiple internal groups to complete third-party due diligence requests and develop expertise in the company's business practices.
  • Support treasury, budgeting, and financial planning to ensure alignment on financing obligations.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in power/energy/utilities finance, with at least 3 years in the US renewables industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in structuring and negotiating renewable energy financings, including tax equity partnerships and debt financings.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts, term sheets, and legal documents.
  • Strong financial modeling skills to support junior team members and develop talent.
  • Existing relationships with project finance and tax equity professionals.
  • Curiosity about distributed generation and storage technology.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Understanding of solar + storage renewable energy systems at a commercial level.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.

Nice-to-haves
