About the position

The Vice President of Sales & Marketing will lead the strategic direction and implementation of sales and marketing initiatives for an ultra-premium winery in Sonoma County. This executive role is part of a small, collaborative Leadership Team responsible for day-to-day operations and reports directly to ownership. The VP will drive revenue and profit growth through effective sales strategies, innovative marketing campaigns, and brand development, while fostering lasting customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the sales and marketing staff, including Direct to Consumer, Trade, and Hospitality efforts.
  • Create and manage marketing campaigns across multiple channels to promote brand awareness.
  • Develop strategies to drive new club member acquisition.
  • Develop and maintain pricing strategies for the brand with the leadership team and ownership.
  • Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
  • Identify, prepare, and participate in promotional events on- and off-site.
  • Generate sales and inventory reports to guide goal-setting and decision-making efforts.
  • Build effective trade connections to promote the brand and wine reputation.
  • Collaborate with production and operations to ensure alignment on product availability.
  • Generate and implement business development strategies across sales channels.
  • Conduct financial reporting and budgeting, requiring excellent Excel skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related experience.
  • 10+ years experience in sales with ultra-premium wine brands.
  • Experience in managing both part- and full-time staff.
  • Extensive wine knowledge and a passion for wine.
  • Strong creative writing and proofing skills for communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience with e-commerce and POS systems.
  • High attention to detail and ability to prioritize projects.
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Sonoma County and related wineries.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and web-based applications.
