About the position

The VP of Sourcing and Contracting at Providence is a senior leadership role responsible for managing over $5 billion in external spend across the health system. This position focuses on sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal standards while supporting high-quality patient care. The role requires strategic oversight, collaboration with various internal teams, and the development of policies and processes to optimize supply chain operations and achieve significant savings targets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the sourcing and contracting of all supply, services, and equipment needs for Providence.
• Manage external spend exceeding $5 billion, ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal, and accreditation requirements.
• Develop strategies and policies to achieve annual savings targets ranging from $75 million to $100 million+.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on sourcing, products, services, equipment, and vendor management.
• Cultivate an innovative environment through effective leadership and communication.
• Design and implement a sourcing operations dashboard to track key performance indicators.
• Train and develop over 80 staff members in sourcing and contracting processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
• More than 10 years of experience in a leadership role within the healthcare industry, specifically in strategic sourcing and contracting.
• Proven experience with clinical executives in product selection and vendor distribution processes.
• Experience with national level GPO relations and strategy.
• Ability to analyze information and solve complex problems effectively.
• Excellent collaboration, team building, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ERP systems in a cloud environment, particularly in sourcing and contracting elements.
