About the position

The VP Strategy & Chief of Staff at Stop & Shop is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing strategic and financial investments for a multibillion-dollar business. This position involves leading a high-performing team, ensuring alignment of financial analyses with the company's strategic goals, and acting as an advisor to the Brand President and executive leadership team. The role requires strong analytical skills, strategic planning capabilities, and the ability to influence and communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic and financial investments for the business.
• Lead a high-performing team of cross-functional leaders.
• Develop and maintain the Unique Selling Proposition/banner strategy.
• Guide the decision-making process for annual priorities and business plans.
• Develop durable financial models in partnership with Finance.
• Create and deploy long-term strategic plans to strengthen the brand.
• Synthesize information from multiple departments into actionable insights.
• Measure and monitor key initiatives and investments.
• Lead the evolution of overall strategy development, including new store growth and acquisitions.
• Ensure transparency in planned initiatives and financial resource constraints.
• Lead financial lifecycle analysis of strategic choices, including M&A analysis.
• Oversee long-term strategic business objectives, forecasts, and budgeting.
• Research and apply new analytical concepts to improve business information visibility.
• Create banner messaging for external reporting needs.
• Develop and execute strategic special events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline.
• MBA preferred.
• 12-15 years of experience in strategic planning or business development in retail or consumer-focused industry.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and investment analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships cross-functionally.
• Proven record of thought leadership and driving organizational transformation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
