About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Virtual Reality (VR) Game Developer/Programmer to create applications and games using Unity or Unreal Engine for training purposes. This hybrid position is based in Pensacola, FL, and involves building and coding applications, maintaining existing software, and developing VR-specific interactions and functionalities.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and codes applications and/or modules using languages such as C++, visual basic, ABAP, JAVA, XTML, etc.
  • Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
  • Designs graphical user interfaces (GUI) to meet specific user needs.
  • Prepares operating instructions and compiles documentation of program development.
  • Analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Maintains and modifies existing software applications.
  • Analyzes detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.
  • Participates in code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Writes or revises program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in accordance with standards.
  • Assists in Oracle/Meta hosting processes and creates compliant programs for hosting.
  • Performs on small teams creating content from scratch in short iterative sprints.
  • Develops and implements virtual reality applications using the Unity game engine.
  • Creates optimized, game-ready assets and scenes for high performance in a virtual reality context.
  • Writes robust and maintainable C# code for various game functionalities.
  • Tests and debugs applications to ensure smooth functionality in varied VR settings.
  • Responsible for core game mechanics, optimization, and VR-specific interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Proficiency in C#, Unity, or Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of 3D mathematics and VR best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven Meta App Lab or Official Store hosting experience.
