About the position

The VR Hardware Systems Engineering Lead is a technical leadership role at Meta, responsible for driving innovation and overseeing the entire new product development cycle for VR devices. This individual contributor works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches and must demonstrate strong technical expertise and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware and technology teams through all phases of engineering design, development, and validation to bring complex VR products to mass production.
  • Establish strategic relationships with product peers in engineering, research, business, design, and user research teams to define product requirements and architecture.
  • Provide technical ownership and guidance to make crucial hardware product decisions, enabling the realization of cutting-edge VR devices for Meta's users.
  • Collaborate effectively across all levels of management and individual contributors both internally and externally.
  • Drive business results, optimize overall business objectives, and foster an environment of collaboration and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant industry experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in hardware product development, with a proven track record of successfully shipping products to market.
  • Experience with multiple full life-cycle product launches.
  • Proven technical expertise in one of the following hardware disciplines: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, display, optics, and systems engineering.
  • Proven leadership skills, demonstrating the experience to lead cross-functional hardware and technology teams throughout the entire product development cycle.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts and drive alignment on product requirements and architecture.

Nice-to-haves

  • 15+ years of direct relevant experience.
  • Previous AR/VR or Wearables experience.
  • Previous Display and Optics experience.
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
