About the position

The VTL Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to machine aerospace parts. This role involves working within a team to ensure quality and efficiency in the production process, adhering to safety and quality standards, and performing various tasks related to equipment setup, inspections, and material handling.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes for machining aerospace parts.
• Perform equipment setups and quality inspections according to established procedures.
• Track material and package finished parts for transport.
• Load and unload parts safely using hoists or cranes.
• Interpret part drawings and use measuring instruments to inspect work.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts.
• Measure and understand statistical process control (SPC) on cut parts.
• Edit parameters for tool and wear offsets in CNC programming.
• Assist in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of related experience in heavy manufacturing or equivalent training.
• Fanuc CNC control experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of dimensional tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Basic math skills including algebra and trigonometry.
• Attention to detail and responsibility for quality of materials handled.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
