Our technicians are responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial vehicles and their components, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and accurately according to company and factory standards. The salary for this position ranges from $45,000 to $150,000+, depending on knowledge and experience. In this role, technicians will perform a variety of tasks including diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs, and documenting all work performed. Technicians will also be expected to communicate effectively with service advisors and lead personnel regarding any additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe. Participation in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and staying updated on technical bulletins is essential for success in this position. Technicians will also supervise apprentice technicians as assigned and maintain accountability for all company-owned tools and manuals. Safety is a top priority at RWC International, and this position is classified as safety-sensitive, requiring adherence to our Drug and Alcohol policy. We are looking for individuals who have hands-on experience as diesel technicians, preferably with dealership experience, and who possess strong diagnostic skills and attention to detail. ASE Certification and experience with Navistar and Cummins engines are preferred qualifications for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with company and factory standards.
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with service advisor/leadman immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all company-owned tools and manuals.

Requirements

  • Valid Drivers' License required; CDL license preferred.
  • Hands-on experience as a diesel technician, preferably with dealership experience.
  • Navistar Engine, Cummins Engine Certification preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Diagnostic skill/experience & attention to detail.
  • Considerable knowledge of the design, adjustment, operations, maintenance, and repair of diversified mechanical and electrical equipment including light, medium, and heavy diesel engines.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and a pre-hire drug and alcohol test.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Navistar and Cummins engines.
  • Previous dealership experience.
