About the position
The 2D Cleanup Animation Internship at Walt Disney Animation Studios offers an immersive experience in the world of animation, focusing on the craft, technology, and operations behind animated films. Interns will engage in hands-on projects, receive mentorship from industry professionals, and develop their skills in a collaborative environment. This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about animation and are looking to enhance their artistic abilities while contributing to the studio's creative process.
Responsibilities
- Refine animator's rough drawings into final drawings for animated films.
- Ensure consistency in artwork to create the illusion of a single artist's style throughout scenes.
- Demonstrate excellent draftsmanship and the ability to interpret and complete rough drawings on model.
- Participate in educational seminars on craft and filmmaking.
- Engage in individual and collective projects under the guidance of Disney artists.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Enrolled in a post-high school educational program and returning for at least one semester post-internship.
- Strong portfolio showcasing life drawing, gesture sketches, and original designs.
- Extensive mastery in figure drawing, anatomy, composition, and perspective.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with animation assignments, including cleanup work and finished animation examples.
- Understanding of animation principles such as locomotion, arcs, and volume control.
