About the position

The WAN Architecture & Design Engineer at CACI is responsible for supporting the USAF Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) by designing and engineering enterprise WAN architecture. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the National IP/MPLS backbone network, ensuring optimal network performance, and providing technical support and training to personnel. The position offers opportunities for career advancement and requires a commitment to national security through the use of advanced IT skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer enterprise WAN architecture.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot National IP/MPLS backbone network.
  • Utilize extensive LAN/WAN background with designing External Gateway Protocol (EGP) such as BGP and OSPF, and Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) such as EIGRP.
  • Analyze networking metrics and recognize sub-par network performance.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Quality of Service (QOS) involving policing, shaping, and queuing from CE towards PE routers.
  • Develop reports and trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents.
  • Act as an on-shift training representative for contractors and government personnel.
  • Perform analysis for collaboration of network/system needs and participate in planning, designing, upgrading, and deployment of enterprise datacenter hardware and software.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to start date.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and 5 or more years' experience; OR 7 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft server installation, roles, active directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
  • Firewall experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT II Baseline Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Completion of additional Professional Certifications such as CCNA and ITIL Foundation within 60 days of start date.
