CACI has an exciting and immediate opportunity for a WAN Architecture & Design Engineer to support the USAF Network Operations Security Center (NOSC). This position works at the customer on-site Tier 3 support location at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. Shaw AFB is conveniently located, with a 2-hour drive to Charlotte, NC to the north, Myrtle Beach to the east, and Charleston, SC to the south. This role is ideal for those who want to use their advanced IT skills to support national security, as you will be working with leading-edge technology to sustain and defend the networks utilized by Air Force warfighters in the CENTCOM theater. The program offers opportunities for upward and lateral mobility, allowing you to move into positions of increased responsibility or apply your expertise in other disciplines across work centers. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and engineering enterprise WAN architecture, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the National IP/MPLS backbone network. You will leverage your extensive LAN/WAN background to design External Gateway Protocol (EGP) such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), as well as Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) such as Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). Your analytical skills will be crucial as you analyze various networking metrics to identify sub-par network performance. Additionally, you will configure and troubleshoot Quality of Service (QoS) involving policing, shaping, and queuing from Customer Edge (CE) towards Provider Edge (PE) routers. You will also be tasked with developing reports and trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents, acting as an on-shift training representative for both contractors and government personnel, and performing analysis for collaboration on network/system needs. This includes participating in the planning, designing, upgrading, and deployment of enterprise datacenter hardware and software using a project-based timeline. Furthermore, you will provide oral and written briefs, presentations, and professional reports to Government senior leaders and decision-makers, and be available for on-call support after hours, on weekends, and holidays. Your role may also require you to deploy or travel to OCONUS locations in the USCENTCOM AOR to support operations, projects, and training as required, with travel expectations of up to 25%.
