About the position

As an Operations Generalist at C&S Wholesale Grocers, your primary responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks related to receiving, administrative duties, auditing, and inventory control. This role is crucial in ensuring that our distribution centers operate smoothly and efficiently, contributing to our mission of feeding local families and communities. You will be expected to work the first shift, starting between 3:30 AM and 7:00 AM, from Sunday to Thursday, at our Troutdale, Oregon location. The starting pay for this position is $22 per hour, with opportunities for overtime as needed. Your inventory control duties will include conducting accurate cycle counts of inventory locations using handheld devices and forms, validating product dating, and auditing inbound receiving paperwork. You will also be responsible for responding to buyer requests for item checks in the warehouse and ensuring that outbound loading accuracy is maintained. This involves validating products to be delivered to customers and notifying responsible parties of any chargeable errors noted during audits. In addition to inventory control, you will perform various administrative tasks such as compiling data from our Warehouse Management System (WMS) into reports for management, reviewing files and records to respond to requests, and entering purchase order receipts into the computer system. You will also be responsible for coordinating with carrier representatives for delivery arrangements and addressing any issues related to damages or shortages with customers and vendors. Your role will require effective cross-functional collaboration to achieve business results and maintain a high level of operational efficiency. The work environment will include exposure to various warehouse conditions, including perishable, grocery, and freezer environments, with temperatures ranging from -20°F to 90°F. You will be expected to work safely and reliably, maintaining satisfactory attendance and productivity levels. Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate cycle counts of inventory locations using handheld devices/forms in the warehouse and make system updates as required.
  • Validate dating of products in the warehouse and update as required.
  • Audit and correct inbound receiving paperwork and perform audits of SOPs as required by Supervisor.
  • Respond to buyer requests for item checks in the warehouse.
  • Validate products to be delivered to customers to measure outbound loading accuracy.
  • Assist in maintaining an acceptable error rate on orders shipped according to company guidelines.
  • Notify responsible parties of chargeable errors and obtain their signature as acknowledgment of the audit.
  • Submit daily audit results to the appropriate team member(s) at the end of each shift.
  • Compile data from WMS into reports and generate reports for management.
  • Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
  • Enter purchase order receipts into the computer system and print receiving tags for use by receivers.
  • Contact carrier representatives to arrange delivery of materials and issue instructions.
  • Confirm and correspond with customers, vendors, and others to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications.
  • Greet incoming outside truck drivers and direct them to the proper unloading bay.
  • Work to the end of shift, including necessary overtime, to meet business needs and assist in other departments as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 0-2 years of warehouse experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate electric pallet jack and other required materials handling equipment (MHE).
  • Demonstrates commitment and ability to work safely.
  • Reliability and satisfactory attendance are essential.
  • Ability to maintain required productivity/work expectations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
