About the position

Trident Seafoods is seeking a Warehouse and Logistics Associate to join our team in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. As the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America, Trident operates in twelve Alaska communities and employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our supply chain and warehouse operations, ensuring that materials are handled efficiently and effectively. The Warehouse and Logistics Associate will be required to work in multiple positions throughout the day, maintaining a flexible schedule to meet the demands of our operations. In this role, you will be responsible for loading and unloading containers with vessel materials, ensuring proper storage in designated areas using appropriate warehouse equipment. You will verify and record the quantity and quality of incoming materials, ensuring accurate inventory control. Picking materials from provided lists, production schedules, or work orders is essential to ensure items are gathered and distributed accurately. You will also create shipping documents and ensure that materials are properly packed, staged, and labeled for shipping. Utilizing warehouse management equipment, including scanners and computer programs, is a key part of this position to maintain accurate inventory control and shipping documentation. Additionally, you will be responsible for cleaning and organizing the warehouse and other areas to meet department standards. Maintaining inventory that is well-stocked, sorted, and organized according to protocol is crucial for the smooth operation of our logistics. The role also involves providing transportation for crew members transiting through Dutch Harbor, ensuring that appropriate overnight lodging is secured for employees and contractors as needed. You will assist employees and contractors with logistic issues, including rebooking flights and transportation to and from the airport. Providing meals, incidentals, and other assistance to employees and contractors while they are in Dutch Harbor is also part of your responsibilities. Friendly and respectful communication with all employees, contractors, and visitors is essential, as is maintaining good relationships with vendors and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads containers with vessel materials ensuring proper storage in designated areas, using shrink wrap or appropriate warehouse equipment.
  • Verifies and records quantity and quality of incoming materials and labels for inventory control.
  • Picks materials from provided lists, production schedules or work orders to ensure items are moved, gathered, and/or distributed accurately.
  • Creates shipping documents and ensures materials are properly packed, staged, and labeled for shipping.
  • Utilizes warehouse management equipment including scanners and computer programs to ensure accurate inventory control and shipping documents.
  • Cleans and organizes warehouse and other areas to meet department standards.
  • Ensures inventory is well maintained, stocked, sorted, and organized according to protocol.
  • Picks up mail and freight at various locations and sorts and delivers or forwards to intended receiver.
  • Provides pick up, drop off, and other needed transportation for crew transiting through Dutch Harbor.
  • Ensures appropriate overnight lodging is secured for employees and contractors as needed.
  • Provides assistance to employees and contractors with logistic issues including rebooking of flights and transportation back and forth to airport as needed.
  • Provides or facilitates meals, incidentals, and other assistance to employees and contractors while transiting Dutch Harbor.
  • Provides friendly, helpful communication and assistance and treats all employees, contractors, and visitors with respect.
  • Maintains good relationships with vendors and community partners.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year experience in warehouse, logistics or a related position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Highly proficient operating PIT's including forklifts, and electric and manual pallet jacks.
  • Forklift certification or training desirable; must be able to obtain Trident Forklift Certification within one month of start.
