About the position

The Warehouse Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the St. Petersburg Free Clinic by managing warehouse activities, including receiving and unloading deliveries, sorting, storing, packing, and distributing food. This position also involves general maintenance of facilities and ensuring compliance with health and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving and unloading daily deliveries and donations.
  • Pick up and deliver products to the Food Bank or other designated agencies, vendors, or donors safely.
  • Drive forklift and Electric Pallet Jack to move products throughout the warehouse and assist in loading trucks.
  • Follow all receiving and inventory control procedures accurately.
  • Unload, sort, store, pack, and distribute food.
  • Support the We Help pantry by keeping it stocked with necessary food and hygiene items.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork, logs, and receipts.
  • Ensure safe and sanitary handling, storage, and distribution of food and non-food items.
  • Perform routine care and maintenance of buildings and grounds, including trash pickup and removal.
  • Keep grounds functional, presentable, and clean.
  • Drive a cargo van and 14 ft or 16 ft Box Truck as needed.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist in daily setup of the warehouse.
  • Support volunteer activities as necessary and assigned.
  • Assist with food drives or special events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Bank Supervisor and Director.

Requirements

  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize inter- and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Ability to use a broad range of technology.
  • Commitment to and modeling of St. Petersburg Free Clinic mission and values.
  • High school diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Forklift and pallet jack knowledge, certification preferred.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • CDL Class A or B license strongly preferred.
  • Ability to lift at least 60 pounds occasionally; ability to repeatedly lift 25 to 45 pounds daily.

  • Forklift and pallet jack certification.
  • Experience in a warehouse or food distribution environment.
