As a Warehouse Associate at Caterpillar Inc., you will work from a variety of source documents to verify part numbers, part locations and quantities. In addition to counting parts and filling orders, you will conduct first line, basic quality assessment of parts for damage and defects. This role involves utilizing heavy equipment, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and overhead cranes to perform material handling and warehousing functions. You will be responsible for order filling, processing, storing/picking of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies, as well as operating automated packaging equipment, paint line operation, and shipping and receiving. Training is provided, and we have positions available on multiple shifts, starting at $17.75/hour, with additional premiums for off shifts. Actual shift availability varies week by week, and successful candidates will be started as soon as a position becomes available on their requested shift. Please note that this could mean a sizable waiting period before starting.

Responsibilities

  • Verify part numbers, part locations, and quantities from source documents.
  • Count parts and fill orders accurately.
  • Conduct first line, basic quality assessments of parts for damage and defects.
  • Utilize heavy equipment, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and overhead cranes for material handling.
  • Perform order filling, processing, storing, and picking of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Operate automated packaging equipment and participate in paint line operations.
  • Handle shipping and receiving tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry product weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15-30 minutes.
  • Ability to push/pull product weighing up to 50 pounds for intervals of 10-15 minutes.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet from the floor.
  • Ability to drive order picker, reach truck, and/or sit-down forklifts after training period.
  • Ability to climb on and off order picker, reach truck, and/or sit-down forklifts multiple times per day.
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.
  • Ability to walk, squat, and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand up to 8+ hours per day on a concrete floor with or without limited movement.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders of 6 feet with handrails.
  • Ability to work in an environment with noise levels averaging up to 85 DB per 8 hours.
  • Ability to work overtime as requested by employer.
  • Ability to complete training on a computer when required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous distribution center, warehouse, and/or order filling experience.
  • Experience with operation of materials handling equipment.
