About the position

The Warehouse Associate position at Burger Boat Company involves managing the storeroom and supporting production through effective inventory management and material handling. The role offers growth opportunities within the company, requiring familiarity with various boat building materials and the ability to operate necessary tools and software. Associates will be responsible for shipping, receiving, inspecting, and maintaining records of materials, ensuring a secure and efficient storeroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Keep storeroom areas secure from theft, damage or fire at all times
  • Receive, identify and inspect incoming material
  • Become familiar with materials in order to timely react to Production requests
  • Maintain inventory levels to support current production
  • Ensure that all material is properly charged to the appropriate account
  • Ensure that correct part and job numbers are on all requisitions
  • Perform in-process inventory and year-end inventory
  • Report problems in purchasing transactions in an accurate and timely manner
  • Store materials in a safe and technically sound manner
  • Protect material against pilferage, unauthorized use, damage and deterioration
  • Receive and interpret all pertinent information on purchase orders for processing
  • Regulate distribution of yard tools
  • Possess forklift operation training to load and unload material
  • Prepare and submit claims for damaged material
  • Classify, mark and locate material in a manner which permits ready accessibility
  • Maintain records of material location and disbursement
  • Ship material by the most cost effective mode
  • Price all material on change orders
  • Enter accurate receiving reports, storage locations and withdrawals of boat materials in computer
  • Maintain computerized tool records
  • Prepare quotes utilizing purchasing software
  • Generate packing lists and shipping memos
  • Place orders for stock/supply items per Purchasing Policy
  • Maintain boat books
  • Possess knowledge of the fit, form and function of typical boat building materials, parts and supplies and be able to apply that knowledge in support of production and cost accountability
  • Maintain and ensure required quality by regular self inspection and asking for critique from more experienced co-workers and supervisors
  • Produce work that is accurate, of the required quality with the proper appearance and within a reasonable and acceptable time period
  • Demonstrate ability to follow instructions and policies that can be given either orally or in written form
  • Possess ability and willingness to successfully train at least one level 1 employee and may from time to time be required to direct at least two other employees while still accomplishing own work on schedule
  • Maintain computerized inventory
  • Track returns to ensure credit or replacement is received
  • Prepare, issue and follow up on material deviation forms
  • Fully utilize purchasing software
  • Develop work packages from Bill of Material
  • Define, describe and offer solutions for material problems

Requirements

  • High school or technical school education with skills in print reading, basic measurement, and tool use
  • 2 years of warehouse experience (required)
  • 2 years of materials management experience (preferred)
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to use decimal or fractional tape measure
  • Physical strength to perform work standing, bending, squatting, kneeling and climbing
  • Willingness and ability to learn new jobs and take instructions
  • Flexibility to work various shift schedules as required
