About the position

For more than 50 years, Silgan Plastics has defined the plastic bottling industry through technical innovation and creative packaging solutions. The Warehouse Associate position is essential to our operations, ensuring that products are handled efficiently and meet our high standards. The role involves taking cartons from conveyors and correctly unitizing them, running the carton makeup area, and operating wrappers. Associates will also be responsible for maintaining housekeeping to GMP standards and performing other duties as assigned. With a Silgan-provided operator's license, the associate will drive a clamp/forklift to wrap and put away units, as well as supply bottles to the plant. The position requires filling in for other warehouse employees when necessary and understanding the Oracle procedures for transferring and producing units, as well as looking up inventory using a handheld barcode scanner. Additionally, the associate will validate carton tickets, load and unload trucks, and interface with other departments and their supervisors. This role is crucial for maintaining the flow of operations and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Take cartons from conveyors and unitize them correctly.
  • Run the carton makeup area, including carton erectors, and send cartons to the correct location in the plant.
  • Operate wrappers and maintain housekeeping to GMP standards.
  • Drive a clamp/forklift to wrap and put away units and supply bottles to the plant with a Silgan provided operator's license.
  • Fill in for other warehouse employees when they are out.
  • Know the Oracle procedure for transferring and producing units and looking up inventory using a handheld barcode scanner.
  • Validate carton tickets and load/unload trucks.
  • Provide interface with other departments and their supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Must pass a color blindness test.
  • Ability to work closely with other people in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle systems is preferred.
