About the position
The Warehouse/Distribution PT Order Filler/Associate/Fulfillment position is a part-time role based in St. Paul, MN, focused on efficiently and accurately pulling items according to customer orders. The primary responsibility is to ensure that all orders are filled in accordance with the prescribed picking quota set by management. This involves navigating to the shelf where the product is located, identifying the correct product and quantity, pulling the product, and transporting it to the checking station. The role requires basic computer navigation skills and the use of voice picking and RF scanning equipment. Adherence to the Stockroom Housekeeping Policy and safety rules, especially regarding hazardous materials, is essential. Accuracy in repetitive tasks is crucial while maintaining a good speed to meet customer demands. The work hours for this position are from 12 pm to 4 pm, making it suitable for individuals looking for part-time work. The job requires a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience, and the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Candidates must be functionally literate and capable of recognizing product numbers and line codes to ensure proper retrieval of products for shipment. The role also involves basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers. The work environment is characterized by exposure to moving mechanical parts and a loud noise level. Physical demands include standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, and occasionally climbing or balancing. Employees must be able to lift up to 60 pounds regularly and move heavy products exceeding 1,000 pounds with appropriate aids. Certification for forklift operation is also required, along with specific vision abilities for the job.
Responsibilities
- Pull all orders for the customer according to the prescribed picking quota as set by management.
- Navigate to the shelf where the product is located; identify the proper product and quantity, pull the product, and transport it to the checking station.
- Perform basic navigation on the computer as required.
- Utilize voice picking and RF scanning equipment for order fulfillment.
- Adhere to the Stockroom Housekeeping Policy of the facility and specific product line area.
- Maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks while ensuring good speed.
- Follow and adhere to all safety rules, including the handling of hazardous materials.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write legibly.
- Ability to successfully communicate with the voice picking system and adapt speech for system understanding.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
