About the position

The Warehouse Industrial Engineer position at Ryder focuses on supporting the Continuous Improvement culture within the operation. The role involves applying continuous improvement methods, data analytics, and engineering principles to enhance performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The engineer will work closely with various levels of employees to identify and implement changes that drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis.
  • Map and document processes.
  • Independently identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and execute a continuous improvement plan to drive customer value.
  • Manage and complete continuous improvement and engineering projects.
  • Assess CI initiatives and provide recommendations for future activities.
  • Support automation projects and interact regularly with operations management.
  • Develop competency in engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards.
  • Participate in Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events.
  • Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and three years of related work experience, or a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management with one year of related experience.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
  • Basic knowledge of Lean/TPS core tools and processes (e.g., 5S, Standard Work).
  • Understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, utilization, labor planning).

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of warehouse design tools such as CAD and slotting software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types.
  • Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS certifications preferred.
  • APICS and/or Supply Chain Logistics Certification preferred.
