About the position

This position supports the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across the operation by actively applying continuous improvement methods to enhance performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The Engineer will leverage data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify and implement changes within the operation, ensuring effective collaboration with employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Collects data and performs statistical analysis.
  • Maps and documents processes.
  • Independently identifies process gaps; recommends and implements process improvement.
  • Develop a thorough, effective, and timely continuous improvement plan to drive value for customers.
  • Drive process improvement activities to achieve tangible improvement in key business metrics.
  • Manages and completes CI and steady-state engineering projects that lead to improved business results.
  • Assesses CI initiatives and provides input and recommendations on future activities.
  • Support Automation projects.
  • Regularly interacts with operations management.
  • Develop competency in a wide range of engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards.
  • Applies engineering methodologies/tools to improve distribution and/or transportation operations.
  • Participate in facilitation and execution of Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events.
  • Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against site objectives.
  • Makes Inventory and/or Supply Chain strategy recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and three years of related work experience; or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management and one year of related experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Knowledgeable of data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
  • Basic knowledge of Lean/TPS core tools/processes (e.g. 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management).
  • Understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, metrics).

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
  • Basic knowledge of Warehouse design tools such as CAD (AutoCAD) and Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan Scale).
  • Knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types (e.g. powered industrial truck applications, racking designs, conveyor equipment).
  • Knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks.
