About the position

The Ops Support Associate - Inventory Control position at Essendant Co. is a full-time role focused on critical supply chain functions that assist in delivering products to customers. The position operates on a shift from 3:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $18.50 per hour, paid weekly. The associate will be responsible for various tasks including order releasing and prioritization, inventory slotting and engineering, cycle counting, quality assurance, and vendor payment processing. The role requires the use of equipment such as stock pickers, reach trucks, counterbalance forklifts, and electric pallet jacks. The associate will print and distribute operational reports, manage the release of orders, sort orders by established criteria, and provide local network administrative support. They will also be tasked with processing order cancellations and conducting bin checks as needed. The position involves identifying items to be added or moved, establishing the selling unit of measure, and determining the appropriate slotting method or zone. The associate will verify locations and quantities, resolve discrepancies, and transport damaged products as necessary. Quality control is a significant aspect of this role, requiring the selection of random cartons for inspection and ensuring that items and quantities match customer orders. The associate will maintain a clean and safe work environment, actively participate in the Lean Continuous Improvement culture, and demonstrate the core values of United Stationers. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Order releasing and prioritization to order selector zone
  • Inventory slotting and engineering to enable optimized order selection
  • Cycle counting and subsequent reporting to ensure inventory integrity
  • Quality assurance and auditing
  • Vendor payment processing
  • Print and distribute operational reports
  • Manage the release of orders and sort orders by established criteria
  • Provide local network administrative support
  • Process order cancellations and bin checks as needed
  • Identify items to be added or moved and determine appropriate locations
  • Verify location, item, quantity, and unit of measure matches report
  • Annotate reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Remove and transport damaged product from active pick or storage locations
  • Research locations and items in question and validate counts
  • Perform quality control activity by selecting random cartons to inspect
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment following all policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in Lean Continuous Improvement culture and process
  • Understand and demonstrate United Stationers' Core Values
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Warehouse/Distribution-related or inventory control experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs
  • Ability to follow simple directions (verbal and written) in English
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Highly dependable individual demonstrating key USI Values including Teamwork, Integrity, Honesty, and Accountability
  • Ability to develop and perform all required tasks within the scope of Operations Support 1 to the level of established productivity required
  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and controlled manner
  • Ability to leverage appropriate technology in an effective manner
