The Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer position at Ryder is a pivotal role within our Supply Chain Solutions division, aimed at fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This remote position can be based in Buckner, KY, Columbia, SC, or Fort Worth, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying continuous improvement methodologies to enhance both new and existing operations. This role is designed for a proactive individual who can identify, lead, and drive change through data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation efforts. The ultimate goal is to achieve higher performance levels in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. In this high-influence position, the Lead Engineer will leverage data analytics and engineering methodologies to identify root causes of operational issues and implement effective solutions. The role requires a strong ability to interface with employees at all levels and functions within the operation, ensuring that continuous improvement initiatives are effectively communicated and executed. The Lead Engineer may also manage continuous improvement resources and will report directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager or Senior Continuous Improvement Manager, while closely collaborating with a General Manager or Director of Operations. Key responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data, mapping and documenting processes, identifying process gaps, and recommending improvements. The Lead Engineer will develop and execute comprehensive continuous improvement plans that drive value for customers and lead high-impact projects that yield tangible improvements in key business metrics. Additionally, the role involves supporting start-ups, retrofits, and expansions, as well as identifying and supporting automation projects. The Lead Engineer will also coach employees in the use of lean methods and ensure that continuous improvement principles are integrated into daily operations.
